I am sorry to have to post this in English, but I only know a handful of words and phrases in French!
I am from Pennsylvania and a friend and I have a week off to paddle, starting on the 12th of June. While we know that the snowmelt is over, it is a long way for us to go out west to Colorado or Idaho just for a week, so we were wondering if it would be a good idea to come up to Quebec? I have never been to Quebec before, but have wanted to paddle your rivers for a while now. We are both creek boaters, comfortable paddling V-V.1 whitewater (West Virginia’s Upper Blackwater and the Narrows of the Green, for example) and are looking to do some good, hard whitewater for a week, but we aren’t sure about where we should be going. Everyone we know has either traveled to Quebec in May for the snowmelt, or in late July or August for the larger rivers (Malbie, Taureau, Romaine, Rouge, et c.)
What we were wondering was what the good class V options were this time of the season? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as well as anyone who would want to paddle with us!
Merci beaucoup!

Levels are rapidly goin’ down
but if you choose rivers still runable in the quebec and saguenay
regions, you might be happy campers.8 juin 2011 à 1:37 am #63032vincent ricardMembreYou have some good options R4-R5 in Quebec city area, the taureau is almost ready and malbaie getting close. But the trials might be in bad condition. Not much rain forecast.
In saguenay/lac st-jean area you may have few other R4+ options that should be considered, like Valin but I don’t know enough this area to help more…But I cannot paddle oftenly now…
