Subject: Callaghan Creek Festival and Race – Help us save BC’s creeks!Hello to all of you. Sorry for the mass email, but we’re trying to accomplish a lot in a very little amount of time. The rapid rate of ongoing destruction of BC’s rivers means this emergency can’t wait another year.
In response to the ongoing threats to BC’s rivers from run of river hydro development, we are putting on a festival and race to raise awareness and to raise money to help save rivers. Proceeds will go to American Whitewater and the BC Creek Protection Society. We have chosen Callaghan Creek as the focus for this event due to its accessibility, high quality, proximity to Whistler, and the fact that it is approachable to a fairly large number of whitewater paddlers. The festival will be held on July 24th. We have already heard from paddlers who are traveling from as far away as the southeast to be at this event!
We are seeking sponsors and vendors for this event. We have a unique opportunity here with some incredible and current bands agreeing to play for free. We need the support necessary to get them there and make this party happen. We are seeking sponsors for this, including a title sponsor for the race and/or festival.
Our hope is that by starting a premier event on Callaghan we can save that creek, and also raise a lot of awareness within the local communities (including Whistler) of the value of other streams for tourism and recreation.
Please check out the festival website and spread the word to anyone you know who might be interested in this unique sponsorship opportunity, or anyone you know who might have access to the stage and sound equipment that we will need to pull this off. Every bit of networking and support helps.

This site will soon be moving to http://www.CallaghanFest.org
If you are in the whitewater industry, please send your team paddlers to be a part of our event! The more top paddlers we have there, the more credibility our event will have and the more leverage we will have to save Callaghan and other creeks from destruction.
It’s going to be a first class whitewater race – drawing from the knowledge that I gained in my 7 years of founding and organizing the Green Race. Hopefully it’s going to be a party to remember as well, drawing not just paddlers, but all sorts of people to see the creek and hear the music. Please help us raise awareness and save these amazing waterways from destruction!
If you are interested in being a sponsor and/or vendor at this event, please contact me through the email below, or you can call my cell phone any time – 828.273.3009.
Thanks for having a look, and we hope you will lend your support to our fight to save BC’s Rivers!!

Upper Cheakamus (take out by the Olympic Village) is awesome right now!!!
