Quote:Fluid Kayaks Now Made In The USA!It is with great pleasure that I can finally announce Fluid’s big news: We moved production of all our whitewater kayaks to the USA, and some of our recreational boats will be made in the USA too. There are a number of factors that prompted this decision, such as high shipping cost of our kayaks from South Africa to the USA and Europe (our two biggest markets), infrastructure challenges, material supply issues, etc.
It was not an easy decision as Fluid is a born and bred African company, and we’re very proud of our heritage. Our headquarters will still be stationed in SA though. R&D will still happen in SA too, with boats being tested on the best that Africa can offer in addtion to all the testing done by our team paddlers around the world. Our full range of recreational sit-on-tops will also still be manufactured in SA for our local market.
The moving of production to the USA holds several advantages for us and also for you, our customer. Firstly, if you are based in North America or Europe, you will be able to get your new Fluid kayaks quicker than before. Secondly, in the USA, we have access to the best quality plastic available on the market. Thirdly, we’ll be able to set a new standard regarding the quality of our kayaks.
I am sitting at a desk in the USA as I write this, and our new kayaks are being put in production right now. Check below for the first pics of the Do It Now, our new whitewater sit-on-top. Next to follow will be the Bazooka and Dope series. The other models will follow shortly afterwards, all within the next few weeks. Expect to see more on all the new boats plus our brand new outfitting in the next issue of the Fanagalo.
